Ahead of the November 2 local government election, Cross River State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Gryogon Augustine Grimah, has assured of a peaceful exercise. Briefing the media shortly after the state security meeting presided over by the state governor, Senator Prince Edet Otu, at his temporary office, Grimah disclosed that the focus of the meeting was the scheduled November 2 local government election. Attended by the Deputy Governor as well as other heads of security agencies in the state, Grimah said: “It was critical that we had to meet ahead of the election in order to strategize to ensure a peaceful exercise.  The University of Calabar has bagged the French Government Award in Plastic Waste Management   in Nigerian Campuses, attracting €50,000 research grant. Unical Team, French Government  The award which was presented by the French Embassy in Nigeria  on Wednesday 11th October, 2024,noted that a total of €753,000 was earmarked to help Universities across Nigeria develop innovative, adaptive and sustainable project ideas which will address plastic pollution.  A total of five tertiary institutions including the prestigious University of Calabar were awarded in the country for fighting plastic pollution on campus.  The institutions include the University of Calabar, Alex Ekwueme Funai University, Obafemi Awolowo University, Delta University and the Yaba College of Technology.  The Head of Cooperation and Cultural Affairs in the French Embassy, Thierry Valentine said the five institutions have been awarded over N500 million to encourage young researchers...
