LG Polls: C'River Police Commissioner Assures Peaceful Exercise

Ahead of the November 2 local government election, Cross River State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Gryogon Augustine Grimah, has assured of a peaceful exercise. Briefing the media shortly after the state security meeting presided over by the state governor, Senator Prince Edet Otu, at his temporary office, Grimah disclosed that the focus of the meeting was the scheduled November 2 local government election. Attended by the Deputy Governor as well as other heads of security agencies in the state, Grimah said: “It was critical that we had to meet ahead of the election in order to strategize to ensure a peaceful exercise. The people of Cross River State are known for their peaceful nature and we are confident that this would be reflected before, during, and after the elections.” He assured citizens that they could feel free to exercise their voting rights, as the environment would be conducive for all. UNICAL VC Advocates for Implementation of Disability Act in Nigeria

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Prof. Florence Banku has called on government at all levels to prioritise people living with disabilities in Nigeria. Prof Florence Obi, Unical VC   Prof. Obi made the call while speaking at the 1st National Colloquium/Conference in Special Needs Education in honour of Prof. Emeka Desmond Ozoji in the University of Calabar. UNICAL Bags French Government Award, Attracts Over N70 Million Grant

 The University of Calabar has bagged the French Government Award in Plastic Waste Management   in Nigerian Campuses, attracting €50,000 research grant. Unical Team, French Government  The award which was presented by the French Embassy in Nigeria  on Wednesday 11th October, 2024,noted that a total of €753,000 was earmarked to help Universities across Nigeria develop innovative, adaptive and sustainable project ideas which will address plastic pollution.  A total of five tertiary institutions including the prestigious University of Calabar were awarded in the country for fighting plastic pollution on campus.  The institutions include the University of Calabar, Alex Ekwueme Funai University, Obafemi Awolowo University, Delta University and the Yaba College of Technology.  The Head of Cooperation and Cultural Affairs in the French Embassy, Thierry Valentine said the five institutions have been awarded over N500 million to encourage young researchers...
