UNICAL VC, Prof Florence Obi Receives U.S Fulbright Scholar

 

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Prof. Florence Banku Obi has received a United States of America Fulbright Scholar, Prof. Paul Ajuwon in her office today, February 3rd, 2025.

Ajuwon is a professor in the School of Special Education, Leadership and Professional Studies at the Missouri State University, USA. He received the prestigious and competitive fellowships that enable scholars to teach, conduct research and carry out community and professional projects worldwide for 2024-25.


For six(6) months, Ajuwon is expected to help the University of Calabar’s Special Education Department to strengthen its curriculum, resources and community outreach as well as collaborating with colleagues in the area of research and co-teach a few courses. 


This is no doubt part of the golden fruits of Prof. Florence Banku Obi’s administration in foreign collaborations, linkages and partnerships to enhancing academic excellence in the University of Calabar.


In her earlier remark, the Vice Chancellor welcomed the visiting scholar, expressing optimism that with Prof. Ajuwon’s vast training and experience, he’ll add more value to the department and the university at large.


The VC however assured her continued commitment to providing comfortable and serene environment for both local and visiting scholars to the institution. 


In the meeting were, UNICAL Deputy Vice Chancellor, Research, Linkages and Collaborations, Prof. Peter Okafor, Former Director of the Directoriare of inclusivity, Equity and Diversity, Associate Prof. Oluseyin Dada, HOD, Special Education Department, Dr. James Ewa among others.
