Mass Comm. Fresher's Orientation: Don Charges Students To Dedicate Time To Studies

The Head of the Department  ( HOD) of Mass Communication, Dr Lawrence Ekwok, has urged newly admitted students to be dedicated to their studies to achieve academic excellence.

Dr Ekwok gave the charge during the Orientation Ceremony for freshmen of the department held at the Lecture Room l.

He welcomed the freshmen and explained that the purpose of the event was to officially welcome them to the department as well as. provide guidance on academic success and offer information about the department.

The HOD emphasised the importance of dressing decently to avoid sexual harassment even as he assured  the students that he would provide full protection for them no matter whose ox is gored.

Similarly, the Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Prof Kyrian Ojong represented by the Faculty Officer, Mrs Immaculata Ntibi welcomed the freshmen and urged them to take their academic pursuits seriously.

She advised them to remain focused by joining the right associations that would enhance their academic performance.

The Chairman of the Orientation Committee, Rev Fr Len  Ojorgu encouraged the freshmen to pay attention to the teachings from the various speakers as he reiterated that it would help them succeed academically and morally.

The Guest of Honour, Mr Cletus Oke, presented a lecture on "Excellence in Learning and Character." 

He noted that the responsibility of communicators to uphold the truth and implored  students  of the department to be of good character while acquiring knowledge.

 Mr Oke also encouraged the students to embrace innovation, trends and collaboration which would put them on the right track.

The event featured presentations from erudite lecturers from the department  and a presentation of an award to the guest of Honour.
