C'River Assembly Committee on Education Submits Report on Bill to Establish Cross River Education Varsity, Akamkpa

 The Cross River State House of Assembly Committee on Education, chaired by Dr. Martins Achadu, has officially submitted its report on a proposed bill to establish the Cross River University of Education and Entrepreneurship Studies.

During the legislative proceedings yesterday in Calabar, Dr Achadu who represents the Yala II (Ukelle ) State Constituency in the assembly  enumerated  key benefits that the new institution would bring to the state and Nigeria at large.

The House Committee Chairman on Education maintained that the bill was  designed to address several challenges in the state's educational sector especially the particular focus on providing quality education and creating opportunities students in both academic and skills development.

“The establishment of this university will be a soothing balm for the people of Akamkpa and Cross River State as a whole. It will not only cater to the educational needs of the entire state but will also help address the pressing challenges of unemployment and enhance meaningful enterprise skills "

The proposed university, according to Dr. Achadu will be a ray hope in the state as  explained that the university’s establishment would provide the  much needed educational opportunities and create avenues for employment for residents of Cross River State.

"The bill is an answer to the yearning of our people, not just in Akamkpa, but across the entire state and beyond," he stated.

In furtherance to the Bill's importance, Dr Achadu averred that, "this institution would provide opportunities for employment, attract qualified academics, enterprise developers and offer a range of academic programmes that would equip Cross River youth with the skills necessary to thrive in the global economy."

Given  that the new university would play a key role in developing all  cadre of skilled researchers, educators and entrepreneurs who would help drive the state's socioeconomic progress. He therefore expressed optimism that Cross Riverians would benefit significantly from the institution as it will focus on producing graduates who are not only knowledgeable but also innovative and entrepreneurially developed for the 21st century challenge.

While appreciating His Excellency, Senator Prince Bassey Otu for his drive towards upscaling enterprise development skills of the people through the university. He appealed for  continuous support from all stakeholders in the education sector  because the university whose bill is under consideration is a critical step towards a brighter future for Cross River State. 

The proposed university of education and entrepreneurship studies would offer programmes in education, entrepreneurship,l and other related fields for skills development.
