New Year: Unical VC Holds Special Prayer Session With Staff in Her Office

 Prof. Florence Banku Obi, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar on Monday  held a special prayer session with staff in her office today to commence the New Year and the 2023/2024 academic session.

Commending the Vice Chancellor for always putting God first at the beginning of a new year and session, some of the staff noted that, "it has been Prof Obi's tradition and  nothing less than the best way to start the year and commence the operation of the University".

Those in attendance emphasized that  Prof. Obi has always prioritized God in all her activities at the University since she assumed office as the helmsman of the ivory tower. 

A cross section of staff opined that the institution has taken great dimension under her watch as VC because God Almighty is the ultimate captain of the ship which aligns with the saying that, "One with God is a majority", Prof. Obi is a majority.

Teenager Commits Suicide Over Poor JAMB Scores

  19-year-old, Opesusi Faith Timilehin, has taken her own life in Ikorodu, Lagos State, after scoring 190 in 2025 UTME. Faith Timilehin took her own life in Odogunyan, Ikorodu, Lagos State on Monday The Deceased Teenager  The teenager, originally from Abeokuta, had been living with her elder sister in Ikorodu. According to family and neighbours, Timilehin was a calm and respectful young woman with high academic hopes. She had applied to study Microbiology and was deeply disappointed by her score of 190, which she considered lower than her 2024 result. “She said her last year’s result was better than this year’s,” a close friend told News Central on the phone.
