Death of Unical Student: Autopsy Absolves Management of Blame As VC Cautions Fake News Merchants

The management of the University of Calabar  has been absolved of any blame following an autopsy report of the deceased Ms Precious Agindi, a 3rd year student of the Department of Library and Information Science, at the University Medical Centre on 28th January, 2023.

Disclosing this in a press statement on Tuesday,14th February in Calabar,  the Vice Chancellor, Prof Florence Obi,  stated that the "report of the autopsy scientifically and medically detailed a clear and conclusive cause of death of our late student who was only brought to our medical center at a very critical state where she died in less than an hour later".

According to the Vice Chancellor, the death of Ms Precious had nothing to do with the rumored ruptured appendicitis as her appendix was found at autopsy to be healthy.

Prof Obi frowned at  the lies that have been deposited in the public space as amplified by social media which have had a damaging impact on the reputation and image of the University

She stressed that management chose not to join issues with peddlers of falsehood at a time of deep sadness and sober reflection just as she  implored all and sundry  to constructively have  the institution under their spotlight in  a bid to improve service delivery and reposition the University.
